Dorcas Matilda Williams was born in Monroe County, Tennessee October 20, 1823. She came with her parents in 1836 to Texas and in 1856 she, with her husband came to Jack County where she had since made her home. She was the mother of twelve children of which only five survive her. She was the grandmother of seventy eight children, the great grandmother of ninety eight children, and great great grandmother of five children. She bore the hardships of war times and faced the dangers of Indians and in her last days could relate interesting tales of early days in Texas. She died July 4, 1914 at the home of Frank Porter and was buried July 5 at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Lonnie King officiating.
