Influenza Reaps A Trail of Deaths
Pusey & Jones Ship Plant Official in the Roll of Victims

Influenza claimed several prominent victims yesterday.

Hugh V. Ramsay, general superi9ntendent of the Pusey & Jones Shipbuilding Company, died at his home, 500 Mercer street, Gloucester, after an illness of several days, of pneumonia, superinduced by the epidemic. He was forty-three years old and was born at Perth Amboy. He learned the shipbuilding trade at Newark under his father and eight years ago went to the New York Shipbuilding Company.

Mrs. Miriam Fisher Swaim, wife of a prominent physician in Logan, died at her home yesterday, a martyr to her devotion to the patients of her husband during the epidemic. Dr. William A. Swain, the husband, is bedridden with influenza, having succumbed to an attack prior to that of his wife. During the first days of his illness his wife sat at a telephone and directed her husband's patients as to their treatment under the direction of the doctor.

For days she fought in this manner to conquer the epidemic, and even disregarding the warning of physicians attending her husband that she was wearing herself out. Mrs. Swaim was twenty-six years old.

Mrs. Paul L. Cassleman, secretary of the Catholic Choral Society, died at her home, 251 North Eighteenth street, of pneumonia, superinduced by influenza. Mrs. Cassleman was thirty years old and occupied a prominent position in Catholic circles.

As Miss Julia Junker she was a graduate of the Manhattanville Convent, New York, and five years ago she was married. She is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr., and Mrs. Jules Junker, of 255 South Thirteenth street, and four brothers and five sisters.

W. L. Dorsey, for years an inspector in the Bureau of Street Cleaning, died at his home, 2033 Pierce street, of epidemic influenza. Two of the engineers of the bureau, Dudley T. Corning and James W. Costello, and eleven inspectors are all ill with the disease.

Dr. George L. Smith, succumbed to pneumonia at his home, 5538 Wayne avenue, Germantown, yesterday.. He contracted influenza one week ago while visiting a patient and pneumonia rapidly developed. Doctor Smith was forty-seven years old, a son of William B. Smith, of Shippensburg, and was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and the Hahnemann Medical College.

Another victim of influenza was Harry Wilson, superintendent of construction at Hog Island, who died late yesterday afternoon in the Misericordia Hospital. Mr. Wilson was thirty-three years old and came to Hog Island from Hartford, Connecticut.

Influenza claimed two in one house-hold yesterday the victims, husband and wife, dying almost at the same hour. They were Irvin B. Woolman, thirty years old, of 149 West Louden street, Germantown, and his wife Bessie, thirty-one years old. Mrs. Woolman was the first to succumb.
