Lieutenant A. H. Sadler Influenza Victim
Philadelphia Officer a Descendant of Family of Warriors

First Lieutenant Albert H. Sadler, son of Charles A. Sadler, a well known North Philadelphia man, died suddenly of pneumonia at Camp Meade last Saturday morning. Lieutenant Sadler had been ill less than a week. He was a victim of epidemic influenza which subsequently developed into pneumonia.

Lieutenant Sadler was born in Philadelphia and was twenty-three years old. The week following the declaration of war he applied for admission to Fort Niagara and was accepted almost immediately. He was commissioned second lieutenant in August 1917, and was transferred to Camp Meade, where he was advanced to the rank of first lieutenant.

Lieutenant Sadler was originally attached to the 304th Ammunition Train Artillery of the Seventy-ninth Division, but was transferred to the Tenth Battalion, 154th Depot Brigade. For the last year he had been detailed to train recruits.

Lieutenant Sadler was descended from a family of fighters. His was the distinction of being a lineal descendant of officers who had fought in every American war since the Colonial wars save the Spanish-American War. He married Miss. Mildred V. Ebert in July, 1917. His widow, father and mother and brother, who is also in service, survive him. Lieutenant Sadler will be buried from his parents' residence, 1805 North Sixteenth street. A detail of officers and privates from Camp Meade will attend the funeral.
