In this City, on Wednesday, Feb 17, William Key Bond, in the 72d year of his age.
Col. Bond was born in St. Mary's County, MD. He came to Ohio in 1812, and settled at Chillicothe, then the
capital of the State. He continued to reside at Chillicothe until 1841, when he removed to this City. Col.
Bond and the late Mr. Creighton were associated at Chillicothe in the practice of law for more than 25
years. This eminent and venerable citizen enjoyed through life an unblemished reputation. He was for
several terms a member of Congress, and took a distinguished part in the debates and business of that body.
He filled other positions of great trust, and always with ability and faithfulness. His character as a public
man, and his private life, was all compact; capable and diligent in business, scrupulously just, pious, and
rich in all the social virtues. In the last years of his life, a great sorrow, arising from a domestic
bereavement, settled upon him. He met it without repining, but all his Christian resignation could not
sustain him, and his strength at last yielded. Let us hope that at last those tears are all
