Brig. Gen. Alfred H. Stead, retired, died suddenly tonight of acute indigestion. He
served during the civil war in the Twenty-seventh Ohio Regiment, and was
the first Commander of Reno Post, 64, G.A.R. He was the first Colonel
of the Twelfth Regiment, National Guard of Pennsylvania, and served as
such from 1874, when the regiment was organized, unt 1 -
Brig. Gen. Alfred H. Stead, retired, died suddenly tonight of acute indigestion. He
served during the civil war in the Twenty-seventh Ohio Regiment, and was
the first Commander of Reno Post, 64, G.A.R. He was the first Colonel
of the Twelfth Regiment, National Guard of Pennsylvania, and served as
such from 1874, when the regiment was organized, until 1888. He was an Alderman
in Williamsport for forty years.
