Obituaries - NY - 1920 - John Gillies

John Gillies, a retired contractor and dock builder of Brooklyn, died suddenly yesterday
in St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. He was in his eighty-fifth year. Mr.
Gillies was the builder of most of the big steamship piers on the North River in Manhattan
and of piers and a drydock at the Nacy yard in Brooklyn. His home was at 104 Kent Street, Brooklyn.
