Obits - NJ - Ocean - 1951 - Mrs. Amanda E. (Archer) Horner

Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda E. Horner, 91, who died Saturday, after a brief illnes, at her
home on the New Egypt-Cookstown Road, were held Wednesday afternoon at her home. The Rev. Roy L.
Lewis, pastor of the Cookstown Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was made in the Jacobstown
Cemetery under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Horner was the daughter of the late Washington and Marguerite Loveman Archer, and the
widow of the late John H. Horner. She was a victim of infantile paralysis at an early age and for
the past several years had been confined to her wheelchair. In spite of her affliction, she
conducted boarding houses at Brindle Park and the Laurel House in her younger years. She was also
and expert tailor and dressmaker. She had many friends in this section and was loved by all who
knew her. She was a member of the Cookstown Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Retta Spence, of Cookstown; one brother, Charles Archer,
of Pembertown; one grandson, Arnold E. Horner, and two great-grandchildren, of Cookstown.
