Alfred DeGaris, proprietor of the Bellevue hotel at Oceanic, died on Thursday of pneumonia, aged 64 years. He was sick but a few days.

Mr. DeGaris was a native of Germany, but the greater part of his early life was spent in Paris. When he first came to this country he was cashier at New York for a French line of steamers. Eleven years ago he moved to Oceanic and had since conducted the Bellevue hotel. He leaves a wife, but no children.

The funeral was to have been held on Monday but it was postponed until today on account of the storm. Rev. S. W. Knipe conducted the service. The body was buried in Fair view cemetery.
