New Jersey Obituaries - 1902 - Mrs. Susan Luyster
|
Mrs. Susan Luyster, widow of Cornelius Luyster of Hazlet, died on Friday at Nut Swamp. Since the death of her husband ten years ago she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Riney Hendrickson of Eatontown, but she was visiting friends at Nut Swamp at the time of her death. She was seventy years old. She had been in failing health for some time and her death was hastened by an attack of the grip.
Mrs. Luyster was born at St. Johns, New Brunswick, but the greater part of her life was spent at Hazlet. Besides the daughter at whose home she lived she leaves another daughter, Mrs. James Durmer, who moved recently from Irvington to Headden's Corner, in Middletown township. She leaves also a stepson, Samuel Luyster of Wickatunk, and a sister, Mrs. Eunice Kerns of Bayville, New Jersey.
The funeral was held on Monday at the house and was conducted by Rev. Dewitt Fay and Rev. D. Y. Stephens. The body was buried in the Holmdel cemetery. The bearers were Merritt Leach, Joseph Smock, Benjamin VanMater and J. R. Clark.
