Died From a Scratch
Carroll Bennett of Avon died on Tuesday of last week as a result of a slight scratch on the nose, made by the finger of a colored man. He received the scratch in a friendly scuffle with the colored man in a saloon at Belmar. Nothing was thought of the injury and it was not even dressed by a physician. On Thursday lockjaw developed and he died that day. Bennett was 39 years old. He leaves a wife and several children.
