Death From A Fall
An Aged Freehold Man Fatally Injured by a Fall Down Stairs
John Johnston, Sr., an aged resident of Freehold, died at the Long Branch hospital on Wednesday from injuries received by a
fall down stairs the previous day. Mr. Johnston was over 75 years old and was quite feeble. On Tuesday morning while going
down stairs to breakfast he made a misstep at the top of the stairs and fell to the bottom. His right leg was broken and he
was bruised about the body. He was taken to the Long Branch hospital, but his case was hopeless from the start, as he was too
old and feeble to withstand the shock.
Mr. Johnston is survived by a wife and six children, The children are Mrs. Isaac VanHise, Jr., of Prospertown, Mrs. George
Burdge of West Farms, and Mrs. William Johnson, Miss Annie Johnson (sic?) and John and James Johnston of Freehold.
