Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - A. Simpson Havens

A. Simpson Havens of Freehold died on Thursday of consumption of the bowels, aged 65 years. He had been sick since June and for eleven weeks had been confined to the bed. He was a son of Mary and Abraham Havens and was born at Turkey. He was brought up on a farm but the greater part of his life had been spent as a clerk in the stores of Freehold. His last position was in McDermott & Mount's real estate and insurance office. For fifty years he had been a member of the Freehold Baptist church and at one time he was superintendent of the Sunday-school connected with the church. Mr. Havens was twice married. His first wife was Sarah Ackerman. By her he leaves two children, Carrie and Marianna Havens, both of Freehold. His second wife was Lydia Ackerman. She survives him, but he leaves no children by his second wife. He leaves a sister, Mrs. Reuben Emmons of Turkey.
