Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Mrs. Adelia (Griggs) Frost
|
Mrs. Adelia Frost, wife of Daniel Frost of New Monmouth, died on Thursday of Bright's disease, aged 57 years. She had been sick only a few weeks.
Mrs. Frost was the daughter of the late William Griggs and was born in the Griggs homestead adjoining the New Monmouth Baptist church. About thirty years ago she married Daniel Frost. He survives her, but no children were born to the couple. Four brothers and a sister also survive Mrs. Frost. They are Capt. Benjamin Griggs of Port Monmouth, Edgar Griggs of Kentucky and Adelbert and Miss Augusta Griggs of New Monmouth. Mrs. Frost was one of the most active members of the New Monmouth Baptist church and she will be greatly missed in church work.
The funeral was held on Sunday at eleven o'clock at the New Monmouth Baptist church and was conducted by Rev. M. M. Finch, the pastor of the church. Rev. William V. Wilson was to have taken part in the service, but he has been having trouble with his throat and he was advised by his physician to use his voice as little as possible. He was present, however, at the service. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in the church. The bearers were William M. Seeley, Henry and William Coe, Fred Pentermann, Daniel W. Irwin and William Morford. The body was buried at Fair View cemetery.
