Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Mrs. Sarah Ann (Brown) Patterson

Mrs. Sarah Ann Patterson of Shrewsbury avenue died last Thursday of paralysis and stomach trouble. She was eighty years old. She had been sick with paralysis for five years and had been confined to the bed all winter. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at the house. Rev. William B. Matteson had charge of the service. The body was buried in Fair View cemetery. Mrs. Patterson's husband, Corlies Patterson, died nineteen years ago.

Mrs. Patterson was born in Middletown township. Her father was Benjamin Brown, a seaman. She married Corlies Patterson when she was nineteen years of age, and she had always lived in Middletown township near Cooper's bridge, until about eleven years ago, when she and her son Corlies moved to Red Bank. In early life she joined the Middletown Baptist church and later transferred her membership to the Red Bank Baptist church. She leaves nine children, Corlies and Joseph Patterson, Mrs. William T. Antonides, Miss Rebecca Patterson and Miss Nellie Patterson of Red Bank; Mrs. James Burdge of Leonardville; Gordon Patterson of Atlantic Highlands; Theodore Patterson of Newark, and John Patterson of Elyria, Nebraska.
