Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Thomas Card

Thomas Card of Navesink died on Monday. He was 86 years old and his death was due to a general breaking down. He had been sick
nearly all winter. He was the son of Thomas Card and was born at Navesink in the house where his sister-in-law, Rebecca Ann Card,
now lives. When a young man he went to New York and learned the mason trade. He returned to Navesink about forty years ago and
had lived there ever since. He married Maria Woodward, a sister of Nimrod Woodward of Navesink. She has been dead a good many
years. Their only child was Edward Card, with whom Mr. Card made his home. He leaves also a sister, Mrs. John H. Skidmore of
Navesink. Mr. Card served in the civil war with Company D. of the 29th New Jersey regiment, and was a pensioner. The funeral
will be held to-morrow afternoon at two o'clock at the Navesink Methodist church. Rev. J. W. Nickelson will conduct the service.
The body will be buried at Bay View cemetery. The bearers will be William Bennett, John Schofield, John Vanderveer and Webster Swan.
