Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Mrs. Louisa A. (Fickett) Brown
|
Mrs. Louisa A. Brown, wife of Warren Brown of Ocean Grove and a former resident of Matawan, died at Ocean Grove on Saturday, December
29th, aged 73 years. Death was caused by pernicious anaemia (sic), with which she had been sick two weeks. Mrs. Brown's maiden name was Fickett.
She was born near Matawan on what is known as the Burkholm farm. On December 31st, 1846, she married Warren Brown, who lived near Beer's hill in
Holmdel township. The day of her funeral was the 54th anniversary of her marriage. For a number of years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Brown
lived at Matawan, Mr. Brown being engaged as a contractor and builder. In the early seventies, when Ocean Grove was first started, Mr. Brown moved
to that place. Mr. Brown has built over five hundred houses at Ocean Grove and vicinity since he moved to that locality. Eight children were born
to Mr. and Mrs. Brown, only three of whom are living. Those living are Edward I. Brown of Matawan and Mrs. H. B. Johnson and Mrs. E. F. Tiffany of
Ocean Grove.
