Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - William H. Forman
|
William H. Forman, a prominent citizen of Freehold and a former mayor of that town, died at the Long Branch hospital last Saturday a week ago from the
effects of an operation which he underwent for a malady that had been pronounced incurable. Few of his friends knew that he was afflicted with the disease
and the news of his death came as a great shock to them. Up to the time that he went to the hospital he seemed to be in the best of health.
Mr. Forman was the son of Ann and John Forman and was born at Freehold in 1849. He was a descendent of John Forman, who was born in this county
about 1730. He was educated at the Freehold institute and Princeton college, read law with W. H. Vredenburg and graduated from Columbia law school
in 1875. The same year he was admitted to the New Jersey bar and had practiced law at Freehold since that time. For two years he was mayor of the town of
Freehold. He was an official member of St. Peter's Episcopal church, a director in the Freehold banking company and a member of the Freehold driving club.
He married Miss Anna Bennett, daughter of Hudson Bennett, and she and one daughter, Florence Forman survive him. He leaves also a brother, John Forman of
Asbury Park.
