Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Joseph Budd
|
Joseph Budd of Eatontown died early Friday morning of cancer of the stomach. He was 67 years old and had been sick for the past five years. For the
past three months he had been confined to his bed. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at the house and the service was conducted by Rev. Daniel
Y. Stephens and Rev. J. D. Fay. The pall bearers were James S. Rose, Samuel Watkins, Andrew Olmstead and Warren Aumack. The body was buried in the
West Long Branch cemetery.
Mr. Budd was born near Pemberton and worked on farms in that section of the state until about 25 years ago, when he went to Eatontown. He secured a
position with the New Jersey Southern railroad as mileage clerk, and he held that position until his sickness compelled him to give it up. In 1854
he married Miss Mary J. Allen of New Gretna, Ocean county. She died about a year ago. He leaves eight children. They are Lizzie, Katie, Irene,
Walter and Allen Budd, who live at home: Mrs. J. Stout Thompson of Red Bank, Joseph Budd, Jr., of Lakewood, and Mrs. S. R. Probasco of Burlington.
Another daughter, Minnie, died a few years ago.
