Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Mrs. Jane (O'Connor) Smith

Mrs. Jane Smith of River street, widow of Patrick Smith, died on Sunday morning of peritonitis, aged 61 years. Mrs. Smith had been
ailing for about three months but was not taken seriously sick until the day before her death. The funeral was held yesterday morning
in St. James's church. The body was buried in Mount Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born in Ireland and she and her mother, Mrs. Bridget O'Connor, came to this country about fifty years ago and lived at
Shrewsbury. Her father died in Ireland. When about twenty years old she married Mr. Smith, who was at that time employed by J. A.
Throckmorton. He died ten years ago. She leaves two children, Mrs. James Griffin and Mrs. James Carroll, both of Red Bank. She leaves
a sister, Mrs. Mary Soffel of Red Bank, and a brother, Thomas O'Connor, who lives in Ireland.
