Andrew J. Wood, father of Mrs. J. R. Brown, proprietor of Brown's Old Pleasure Bay house, died at that place on Saturday, August 10th , aged 77 years. Death was due to cancer of the stomach.

Mr. Wood was born at Goshen, New York, and at one time he was a prosperous real estate dealer in New York City. His sight became impaired and on Mr. Brown's death a number of years ago he went to live with his daughter at Pleasure Bay. About five years ago he became totally blind. He had become so familiar with the neighborhood before he became blind that he was able to go about unattended. His favorite spot was on the veranda overlooking the lawn and although he could not see he enjoyed the fragrance of the flowers and would frequently remark how beautiful the landscape must be. He is survived by a wife and the daughter with whom he made his home.
