Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Mrs. Ellen Deborah O'Brien
Mrs. Ellen Deborah O'Brien of East Oceanic, died on Saturday night at half past ten o'clock after a short sickness. The funeral
was held at the house this morning at nine o'clock, and at Holy Cross church at Seabright half an hour later.
Mrs. O'Brien was about eighty years old and was a descendent of Robert Morris, the Revolutionary patriot. For several weeks past
she had been perfecting her claim as one of his descendents to the money which he loaned the government during the Revolutionary
war. Her claim of descent was complete.
She leaves five daughters. They are Mrs. Eliza Clark, who is living in the West; Mrs. Michael Reilly of Fair Haven, Mrs. John
Cartan and Mrs. Augustus Bennett of Oceanic, and Mrs. Patrick Cartan of Morrisville. She also leaves a large number of
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves a small estate, comprising a house and lot on Borden street, Red Bank,
and some other property.
