Obits - NJ - 1900 - George Henry Bills

George Henry Bills of Freehold died of consumption on Monday of last week. He was 71 years old. He was born in Ocean county but the greater part of
his life was spent in Freehold township. When he was a boy he went to West Freehold and learned the blacksmith trade. Afterward he worked at his
trade at Freehold and then moved to Jerseyville. For a time he was in the fruit and vegetable business at Freehold. For many years he had been
surveyor of the highway of Freehold township and he held that office at the time of his death. He had been janitor of the county buildings, of the
Freehold Methodist church and of several office buildings. He was a man of great, though unostentatious charity , and he was a prime favorite with
children. He had been a member of the Methodist church nearly all his life. In 1853 he married Miss Mary A. Heyer, and she and one son , Frank R.
Bills of Freehold survive him.
