Miss Alice Cartan, daughter of Lawrence Cartan of Matawan, died last Thursday of typhoid fever, aged 24 years. A sister and four brothers survive her. They are Miss Kate Cartan, A. J., Garrett, Bert and Rensselaer Cartan. She was a cousin of Mrs. A. C. Cottrell of Oceanic. Miss Cartan was a member of the Presbyterian church and a very active worker in religious affairs. She was a popular young woman and her funeral on Sunday was one of the largest ever held at Matawan. The coffin was banked with handsome floral offerings sent by her many friends. The body was buried in Rose Hill cemetery at Matawan.

Death notice lists her age as 24 years, 9 months.
