New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - Mrs. Maria Mott (Gummere) Parker

Mrs. Maria Mott (Gummere) Parker of Freehold, widow of Joel Parker, died last Wednesday of paralysis, at the summer home of her son, Frederick Parker, at North Spring Lake, aged eighty years. Mrs. Parker was the daughter of the late Samuel R. Gummere and was born at Burlington. She was married at Trenton in 1843 to Joel Parker, who was twice governor of New Jersey. After their marriage they moved to Freehold where Mr. Parker began practicing law. The family had since lived there. Mrs. Parker was the mother of six children, two of whom died in infancy. Two grown up daughters, Helen and Elizabeth, died some time ago. Two sons are still living. They are Charles J. Parker of Manasquan and Frederick Parker of Freehold.
