New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - Amelia S. (Havens) Armstrong

Amelia S. (Havens) Armstrong, wife of Thomas G. Armstrong of Seabright, died on Sunday, May 13th, aged
67 years. Death was caused by valvular heart disease with which she had suffered many years. Mrs.
Armstrong was the daughter of Mary and Abraham Havens and was born at Turkey. Portions of her married
life were spent in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She went with her husband to Seabright in
1880. The funeral was held on Wednesday and was conducted by Rev. S. Monroe VanSant, pastor of the
Seabright Methodist church. He was assisted by Rev. John Parmley of Oceanic. At the request of Mrs.
Armstrong, Mrs. S. M. VanSant sang "Jesus in Mine" and "Sleep on, Beloved." The body was buried in
Glenwood cemetery at West Long Branch. Mrs. Armstrong leaves two sons and a daughter. They are
William S. Armstrong of Seaside, and James P. Armstrong and C. Minerva, wife of E. S. Nesbitt of
Seabright.
