New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - Mrs. Margaret (Combs) Thompson

Mrs. Margaret (Combs) Thompson died on Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar
Hesse, Jr., of Spring street. Death was caused by cancer of the breast, with she had been
afflicted for the past two years. Mrs. Thompson was the widow of Robert Thompson of Lincroft.
She lived at Lincroft for thirty years. Four years ago she moved to Red Bank, where she had since
lived.
Mrs. Thompson was born at Robertsville in 1837. Her maiden name was Margaret Combs. She was
married in 1863 to Robert Thompson. Six children were born to them, three of whom are living.
They are Mrs. Hesse, with whom Mrs. Thompson made her home; Mrs. Harry VanPelt of Marlboro and
Rev. Robert Rhea Thompson of Dalton, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Thompson was a good mother, a kind neighbor
and she leaves a host of friends to mourn her death. She was a consistent Christian and took an active
part in church work.
The funeral will be held to-morrow afternoon at two o’clock at the Baptist church. The service will be
in charge of Rev. William B. Matteson, pastor of the church, and he will be assisted by Rev. J. K.
Manning of Trenton and Rev. E. X. Hancock. The interment will be made in Fair View cemetery.
