Mrs. Susan (Springsteen) Jeffrey, wife of William Jeffrey of Oceanic, died last Thursday morning. She was 72 years old and had been sick since Thanksgiving. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at one o’clock at the house and at two o’clock at the Oceanic Methodist church. The service was conducted by Rev. M. S. Messler. The body was buried in the Rumson burying ground.

Mrs. Jeffrey was born at Oceanic on the site now occupied by Hon. C. N. Bliss’s house. She was the daughter of Susanna and John Springsteen and was twice married. Her first husband was Alexander Snyder, father of Mrs. Harriet Brown of Oceanic and of Hon. George B. Snyder of Fair Haven. A few years after the death of her first husband she married Mr. Jeffrey. Five children were the result of this union, three of whom are living. The surviving children are Mrs. Elizabeth Brighton of Oceanic and Mrs. Annie Hulse and Mrs. Susan VanBrunt of Fair Haven. One sister survives Mrs. Jeffrey. She is Mrs. John Jeffrey of Oceanic.
