Richard Crawford of Nut Swamp, who died on May 6th, made his will last January. Mr. Crawford was a bachelor and was possessed of considerable property. A mother and two brothers, James F. and John B. Crawford survive him.
To his brother, James F. Crawford, he left the farm at Nut Swamp known as the Stilwell-Crawford-White farm, his interest in the homestead farm at Nut Swamp now occupied by their mother, a marl lot of four acres near Morrisville, a lot on LeRoy place at Red Bank and all his horses, wagons, harness, etc. To his mother, Sarah E. Crawford, he left the use of $10,000, which he directed to be invested on first bond and mortgage; also all his household furniture. At her death the money and the household furniture is to go to his brother, James F. Crawford. To his brother, John B. Crawford, he left the use of $5,000 and at his death this money is also to go to James F. Crawford or his heirs.
The will directed that the sum of $250 be paid to Mary K. Crawford, wife of John B. Crawford, and that the same amount be paid to Hattie E. Taylor, wife of John G. Taylor. The sum of $500 is left in trust to the Fair View cemetery association, the income of which is to be used to keep the family burial plot in order. Whatever remains of the estate after the above bequests are made is to go to James F. Crawford, who is also made executor of the will. The witnesses to the will were Joseph T. Fields and Garret S. Smock.
