New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - Samuel Williams Connor
|
Samuel Williams Connor of Navesink died on Monday of peritonitis, aged 78 years. He had been ailing for some time, but he walked from his home to the village and back the Friday before his death. Mr. Connor was born at Ithaca, New York. In 1860 he married Mary A. Maxson, a sister of Timothy Maxson of Navesink. He lived at Navesink for nine years after his marriage and he then moved to Brooklyn. Nine years ago he moved back to Navesink, where he had since lived. He was employed for thirty years by the Union ferry company at Brooklyn. For the past few years he had been janitor of the Navesink public school building. A widow and four children survive him. The children are Mrs. Robert A. Maxson of Brooklyn, Walter B. Connor of Navesink, and Miss Frances and William M. Connor, who live at home. He has a sister, who is supposed to be living, but her present whereabouts are unknown. Her name is Frances Connor and she was last heard of at Philadelphia. The funeral will be held on Thursday at half-past one o’clock at the house and at two o’clock at All Saints’ church at Locust Point. The body will be buried in All Saints’ burying ground.
