William Dowd of Holmdel died on Monday of last week of chronic diarrhoea (sic), aged 67 years. He had been sick about two months. The funeral was held at Matawan on Thursday and the burial was in St. Joseph’s cemetery at that place.
Mr. Dowd was born in Ireland and was married there. He came to this country in 1863 and shortly afterward he bought the farm at Holmdel, where he had lived ever since. His wife, Margaret Dowd, and seven children survive him. The children are Daniel Dowd of Shrewsbury avenue, Red Bank; John Dowd of Seabright, Mrs. James Powers of Trenton, Mrs. William Jones of Trenton, Mrs. Edward Allen of Fair Haven, Mrs. Edward Rogers of Asbury Park and Miss Maggie Dowd of Holmdel. One sister, Mrs. David Mally of Cincinnati also survives him.
