Mrs. Garret C. Heyer dies at Holmdel of Heart Disease at the Age of 73 years
Jerusha Ann (Tilton) Heyer, wife of Garret C. Heyer of Crawford’s Corner, near Holmdel, died on Tuesday of last week of heart disease, aged 73 years. Mrs. Heyer was the daughter of John H. Tilton of Colt’s Neck. After her marriage to Mr. Heyer she had always lived at Crawford’s Corner. A husband and eight children survive her. The children are Joseph Heyer, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith and James Heyer of Crawford’s Corner; John Heyer, Mrs. William Lambertson and William Henry of Hazlet, and Mrs. J. Lloyd and Reuben Heyer of Matawan. Five brothers and two sisters also survive her. They are William M. Tilton of Holmdel, Thomas Tilton of Keyport, Reuben Tilton of Centerville, James Tilton of Oak Grove, Benjamin Tilton of Colt’s Neck, Mrs. Albert Conklin of Matawan, and Mrs. Charles Beer of Michigan. Mrs. Heyer was a member of the Holmdel reformed church. The funeral was held on Friday at the house. Rev. R. B. Fisher of the Baptist church had charge of the service in the absence of Rev. Garrett Wyckoff. The body was buried in the Holmdel cemetery. The pall bearers were William Morrell, Henry Ackerson, Webster Jones, Benjamin Tilton, William Crawford and James Van Brakle.
