Obituaries - NJ - 1900 - Miss Jane Ross
|
Miss Jane Ross of Freehold died last Wednesday, aged 79 years. She had a fall last November and injured her hip. Since that time she had been in failing health and gradually grew weaker until she died. She was the daughter of Jane and John Ross and was born at Londonderry, Ireland. She came to this country at the age of seventeen years and made her home with her brother, who lived at Philadelphia. She lived at Philadelphia only a short time and then moved to Trenton, and about 1852 she moved to Freehold, where she had since lived. For a number of years Miss Ross was in the millinery business at Freehold with Miss Eliza Throckmorton. Miss Ross was a member of the Freehold Presbyterian church and for many years she taught a class in the church. Her brother, Andrew Ross of Freehold, died about nine years ago. Miss Ross leaves several nieces and nephews.
