New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Rev. John Wilson

Rev. John Wilson of Ocean Grove, died of paralysis on Friday, May 12th, aged 75 years. He was born in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Dickinson college at Carlisle, Pa., in 1848 and at once began teaching. He served three years as assistant principal in the grammar department of Dickinson college and he also held a similar position in Wesleyan female institute at Staunton, Virginia. He succeeded Rev. J. A. McCauley as principal of the institute in 1853. He was president of Wesleyan female college at Wilmington, Delaware, and he afterward opened a school at Ridley Park. Mr. Wilson moved to Ocean Grove fourteen years ago.
