New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Mrs. Uriah (Hurley) WhiteA Woman Kills HerselfMrs. Uriah White Cuts the Arteries in Her Wrist
Mrs. Uriah White of Asbury Park committed suicide by cutting the arteries in her wrist last Friday
morning. She had taken her husband’s razor and had gone to the bathroom. She had leaned over the bath
tub and slashed her wrist. When she became weak from loss of blood she fell, and the noise of her fall
awakened her daughter, who went to the bathroom and found her mother dying. A doctor was called but
Mrs. White died shortly after he arrived. Mrs. White had been in poor health for some time, and she
was rendered melancholy by the recent death of her father, Hugh Hurley. This is supposed to be the
reason for her act. Mrs. White was sixty years old.
