New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Mrs. Mary (McIntyre) Towers

Mrs. Mary Towers, widow of John Towers, died yesterday morning on Washington street, at the home of her grandson. Louis Brown. She was 86 years old. She was the daughter of Jean and John McIntyre, and was a native of Glasgow, Scotland. She came to New York in 1835. Mr. Towers was engaged in the importing business in New York, and he died in 1865. Mrs. Towers afterward bought a farm at Brown’s Dock, and lived there until about two years ago, when she came to Red Bank. She had been a member of the Brick Presbyterian church in New York for 41 years. She had eight children, four of whom are still living. They are Miss Mary Towers of Brown’s Dock, Robert Towers of the Highlands and Catharine and Jessie Towers of Red Bank. The funeral will be held at three o’clock at the house on Friday and will be conducted by Rev. R. G. Davey.

Per the Death Notice Mrs. Towers was aged 86 years.
