New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - John Kegan
John Kegan, an old resident of Port Monmouth, died of dropsy in a Newark hospital on Sunday. He was about seventy years old and had been sick for a long time. He was born in Ireland, but came to his country in 1855 and settled at Port Monmouth, where he engaged in farming. Shortly after moving to Port Monmouth he married. His wife died about eight years ago. One child, a daughter, was born to them. She married John Nocton of Keansburg, and she died about four years ago. Mr. Kegan left a considerable estate. The funeral was held this morning at half-past ten o’clock from St. Mary’s church at New Monmouth. The service was conducted by Rev. John O’Connor. The burial was at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
