New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - John H. Swan

John H. Swan of Keyport died of consumption on Thursday of last week, aged 53 years. He was the son of the late John Swan of Locust Point and was born on the Swan homestead at that place, now occupied by A. Jones Swan. He lived at Locust Point until about two years ago, when he went to Keyport to live with his daughter, Mrs. Howard Irwin. He married Elizabeth Skidmore, daughter of the late Richard Skidmore. She and three children survive him. The children are Mrs. Howard Irwin, Mrs. Wyman Birkbeck and Theodore Swan. He leaves also four brothers and two sisters. They are Charles and A. Jones Swan of Locust Point, Uriah and Joseph Swan of Brooklyn, Mrs. Charles A. Scott of Matawan and Mrs. Amanda Clement of Brooklyn.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Navesink Methodist church. The service was in charge of Rev. J. W. Nickelson. The body was buried in All Saintsí burying ground.
