New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Mrs. Ellen (Flatley) Cavanaugh

Mrs. Ellen Cavanaugh, wife of Michael Cavanaugh of Little Silver, died last Wednesday of peritonitis. She was born at New Monmouth and was the daughter of Michael Flatley. Sixteen years ago she married Mr. Cavanaugh. They moved to Long Branch, where they lived until two months ago, when they moved to Little Silver. Her husband and five small children survive her. Two brothers and two sisters also survive her. They are Mrs. John Norman of Colt’s Neck, Miss Sarah Flatley of Red Bank, Thomas Flatley of Oceanic and John Flatley, who lives in the West.

The funeral was held on Friday morning at half-past-nine o’clock at St. James’s church at Red Bank. The service was conducted by Rev. James A. Reynolds. The Rosary society of Our Lady Star of the Sea church of Long Branch, of which Mrs. Cavanaugh was a member attended the service. The day of the funeral would have been Mrs. Cavanaugh’s 44th birthday had she lived. The body was buried at Mt. Olivet cemetery at Headden’s Corner.
