Search this site by Keyword / Surname:

James C. Smith of Matawan township made his will the seventh day of last May. He left $300 to his brother-in-law, George Perrine of Burford, England; $100 to Mrs. Serene Clark of New York City; and $25 was directed to be spent in keeping his burial plot in order. George Albert Cottrell, a friend of Mr. Smith's, got his horse, harness, wagons and all the farming implements and machines on Mr. Smith's farm in Matawan township; and Mrs. Clark was to get all his books, pictures and household relics which she might desire to retain as keepsakes. She was also to have all the furniture and other personal property except that which was bequeathed to Mr. Cottrell. The farm Mr. Smith owned, and also all his other property of every kind which was not otherwise disposed of by will, was to go to Mrs. Clark. Cyrus Knecht of Matawan was made the executor of the will.
