New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - George W. Van Schoick

George W. Van Schoick of Maple avenue, died early this morning from a complication of diseases. He was 71 years old and had been sick since Thanksgiving. He was born in Middletown township on the old Van Schoick homestead near Fair View cemetery. He lived on the farm until 1875, when he moved to Red Bank and engaged in the building business. He retired from active life a number of years ago, but he has continued to live in Red Bank.

Mr. VanSchoick was twice married. His first wife was Miss Eliza A. Sutton of Red Bank, a sister to John Sutton. She died nineteen years ago. In 1892 Mr. Van Schoick married Mrs. Christina Stevens, widow of Peter Stevens of Englishtown, and she survives him. Two children by his first wife also survive him. The children are Mrs. John B. Brooks of New Milford, N. J., and William Sutton Van Schoick, who lives on the homestead in Middletown township. He leaves no children by his second wife. Mr. VanSchoick was a brother of David VanSchoick of Eatontown, Mrs. Julia N. Hibbitts of Oceanport and Mrs. Elizabeth Walling of Atlantic Highlands.

The funeral will be held on Friday morning at half-past eleven o’clock at the house and at twelve o’clock at the Baptist church.

Mr. VanSchoick left a will. His estate is valued at about $50,000.
