New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Benjamin Parker Longstreet

Benjamin Parker Longstreet of Ocean Grove died on Saturday at the age of 53 years. Death was caused by heart disease, with which he had been sick for some time. Mr. Longstreet was in his usual health up to the time of his death and was sitting at the table eating his supper, when he suddenly raised one hand and fell back in his chair dead. He was the son of Theophilus Longstreet and was born at Shrewsbury on March 30th, 1845. He had lived at Ocean Grove a number of years. On January 26th, 1868, he married Miss Mary C. Estelle of Lakewood. His wife, three daughters and a son survive him. The children are Mrs. William Thomas of Lakewood, Mrs. Hal A. Patterson of Allenwood, and Sadie A. and William H. Longstreet, who live at home. Mr. Longstreet also leaves four brothers and two sisters. They are Mrs. David Patterson and Mrs. William Strickland of Ocean Grove, Theophilus Longstreet of Long Branch and James, John and William Longstreet of Red Bank. The funeral was held at St. Paul’s Methodist church at Ocean Grove at half-past one o’clock this afternoon and the body was buried in the West Long Branch cemetery.
Per the Death Notice Mr. Longstreet was aged 53 years and 10 months.
