A Murder At Belmar

A Man Kills Another and Then Shoots Himself

William H. Carson of Camden, assistant prosecutor of Camden county, was shot and killed by Samuel A. Sheets of Belmar, his brother-in-law, on the boardwalk at that place last Saturday night. After killing Carson, Sheets put a bullet through his own head and died while being taken to the hospital. Sheets had lived at Belmar for three years. He once owned considerable property and lost it through drinking. He had a fancied grievance against Carson on account of a transfer of property and this is said to have been his motive for killing him.
