New Jersey Obituaries - May 4, 1898 - John E. Hunt

John E. Hunt, a well known resident of Manalapan township, died at the insane asylum at Trenton on Tuesday of last week, aged 71 years. He had lived in Manalapan township all his life, with the exception of a few years, during which time he was engaged in the clothing business in New York. For 35 years he was a member of the Republican county executive committee. In 1888 Mr. Hunt was appointed postmaster at Englishtown under President Harrison and in 1894 he was elected freeholder from Manalapan township. About five years ago he fell heir to a fortune of $30,000. A wife and two children, a son and a daughter , survive him.

Per the Death Notice Mr. Hunt was 71 years and 9 months.
