New Jersey Obituaries - June 22, 1898 - Mrs. Annie M. Champion
Mrs. Annie M. Champion, wife of S. T. Champion of Atlantic Highlands, died last Wednesday of
consumption. She was sixty years old and had been sick a long time. A short time ago she
underwent an operation in a Philadelphia hospital for stomach trouble. Mrs. Champion built
the Portland hotel at Atlantic Highlands. This hotel is said to be one of the finest hotels
in the state. She leaves four children. They are Ira and Frank Champion of Ocean City and
Ezra and Barton Champion of Atlantic Highlands. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon
at the house, and the services was conducted by Rev. Percy Perinchief. The body was taken
to Pleasantville, N. J., for burial.
