New Jersey Obituaries - July 20, 1898 - Thomas F. Croft
Thomas F. Croft died of Bright's disease yesterday morning at ten o'clock at the home of his son, F.
M. Croft of Eatontown. He was 78 years old. Mr. Croft was born at York, England, March 10th, 1820.
John Bright, the great English reformer, and Joseph his brother, were school fellows of Mr. Croft at
Kendal, in Westmoreland, England. Martin Croft, one of Mr. Croft's ancestors, was a members of the
first Masonic lodge chartered in England in 1089. Mr. Croft was one of the oldest life members of
the Pennsylvania horticultural society. The body was taken to Westport, Connecticut, where the
funeral will be held.
