New Jersey Obituaries - September 8, 1897 - Captain John Curtis

Captain John Curtis of Manasquan died at St. Francis Xavier's infirmary at Charleston, South Carolina, on Saturday, August 28th. His death was caused by a disease of the stomach, for which he had been under treatment at the hospital for several weeks. Captain Curtis was 46 years old. He had been captain of the schooner Bertha F. Walker for several years. He leaves a wife and two children. The body was brought to Manasquan, where the funeral was held on Tuesday of last week.
