New Jersey Obituaries - November 17, 1897 - John VanBrackle Arrowsmith

John VanBrackle Arrowsmith, a prominent resident of Keyport, died on Monday of last week of Bright's disease. He was nearly 73 years old. Mr. Arrowsmith had lived at Keyport since 1869. He was a brother to S. V. Arrowsmith of Red Bank and Dr. J. E. Arrowsmith of Keyport. He was for many years assessor of Holmdel township and he also served a term of three years as assessor of Raritan township. He leaves a widow and two married children-a son and a daughter. On November 18th, 1847, he married Miss Deborah Cowart of Plainfield, and had he lived until to-morrow Mr. and Mrs. Arrowsmith would have celebrated their golden wedding. His funeral was held on Thursday and the body was taken to Plainfield for burial.
Per the Death Notice Mr. Arrowsmith was aged 72 years and 10 months.
