Mr. William Arose now rests himself where he opened about 3,000
graves as sexton of Rose Hill Cemetery. He died at the residence of his son
Daniel, at South Amboy, Sunday morning, Sept. 29, aged 86 years, 7 months and
3 days. On Oct. 1st his remains were brought to Cliffwood M. E. Church, where
the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Abbott, of South Amboy, the
sermon being from Job, xiv: 10- "But man dieth and wasteth away; yea, man
giveth up the ghost, and where is he?" The choir rendered "Waiting and
Watching" and "Meet Over There." Rev. Mr. Hill assisted in the service. The
remains were interred in the family plot in Rose Hill. He leaves a widow and
one son, the widow being quite feeble. The cause of death was paralysis,
from which he lay unconscious nearly a week.
