Obits - NJ - Monmouth - Robertson Smith |
Robertson Smith, commonly known as "Squire Smith," died very suddenly of
an apoplectic fit in Morris & Arrance's grocery store, on Main street, Eatontown,
last Wednesday morning. He was sitting on a chair when he was suddenly seized
with a fit and fell to the floor. Dr. E. W. Crater, of Oceanport,
was quickly summoned, but he was unable to render the stricken man any relief.
The coroner was notified and the body removed to an undertaker's, where
it lay until evening, when it was taken to the home of George Slocum, at West
Long Branch. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon. Mr. Smith was 73 years old.
Death notice lists his age as 73 years and 1 month.
