William Brown, son of Peter and Sarah Brown, of Freehold, died on Sunday evening of last week, after a very long period of intense suffering, due to a cancer of the face. He was born in 1856 in lower Turkey, now Fairfield, and lived in that section until he was about seventeen years old, when he moved to Freehold and learned the trade of an iron moulder with Combs & Bawden. In September, 1875, he married Miss Jane Riddle, of Freehold. By this marriage there were four children, three of whom are living, the oldest being 10 years of age. Mr. Brown was a member of the fire department and also a member of the Vredenburgh rifles. Source: Red Bank Register Wednesday, May 18, 1887
